HOTEL REVIEW | Langland Bay House B&B, Wales

A weekend away on the gorgeous Gower peninsula coast found us resting our heads at the welcoming Langland Bay House B&B.

Owned by Miles and Grace, the one-room B&B (yes, really), was the perfect base to explore the gorgeous Welsh coastline.

LOCATION

Practically on the beach itself, the B&B overlooks the pristine, sandy Langland Bay beach. The B&B is also a short drive from Mumbles for those wanting to venture to somewhere a little more lively.

ROOM

We were surprised to discover that the B&B compromises of just one double bedroom, meaning the stay really was quiet, and intimate, rarely seeing or hearing Grace and Miles accept at breakfast time.

The room is spacious, with gorgeous beach views, an an en-suite shower room, TV with Sky, hot drinks facilities fresh fruit and WiFi.

FOOD

While dinner was available with prior warning, we’d already planned our meals out. Breakfast was ordered via a check sheet in the morning with a variety of locally sourced options from cockles to a full fry up.

A highlight was honey from the house’s own bee hive, and a gorgeous Rhubarb compote Grace had made herself. Breakfast was served every morning with that day’s newspapers and a lovely view of the sea.

CHARACTER

The house itself really was beautiful, and huge, with a gorgeous flower-filled garden with a gate leading right out onto the beach. The house is dotted with a few family photos, and lovely family touches reminding you that you have been welcomed into their home.

And if you’re after a swanky, modern pad to stay, this really isn’t it. Instead it oozes traditional charm that suits the surrounding area perfectly.

FACILITIES

No pool or spa is needed. Instead grab Grace’s kayak and head out for a paddle in the open water. Alternatively, pick pu one of the many guides left in your room and explore the gorgeous coastline by foot.

ACTIVITIES

Aside from the aforementioned activities, there’s PLENTY to do in the local area. Langland Bay itself is great for fishing, while activities including boating, surfing, bodyboarding and kite boarding are aplenty. Head to Gower surf school for an incredibly fun lesson…

Rooms begin at £125 per night, langlandbayhouse.com
