Feeling like Cinderella in this ASOS number…

Feeling like Cinderella in this ASOS number…

ASOS have done it again with their stunning range of evening dresses, just in time for the prom and ball season!

Last year, after becoming a member of ASOS’ blogging community Access All ASOS, I was one of the lucky few chosen to try on their new range of prom dresses. That year, I felt so good in the prom dress that I chose – a short, heavily embellished blue number – but I think this may top it.

As a final year student, the Journalism ball this year will be my last, and as President of the university’s Journalism Society, it’s going to be quite sad to say goodbye. However, I thought I might as well say goodbye in style, so who better to turn to again than trusty ASOS?

They lovely team kindly sent me an array of dresses to try (some I’ve posted on Instagram for some help deciding on!), but this one I just fell in love with almost immediately after I got it on me.

Normally I’m someone that loves long gowns, but as we’re going out partying afterwards, and because I’ll be making a speech at the awards, I thought of practicality and opted for a midi number.

This dress is by Chi Chi London, and what I love about it is its infusion of old school style with modern detailing.

As soon as I saw this dress it made me think of something Grace Kelley would wear with the lace and net detailing, scalloped hem and neckline, and midi sleeves. However, the metallic colour of the lace detail brings gives a modern element to the gown.

This isn’t like anything I’ve worn before, as I’ve always stayed quite safe when it comes to dresses for occasions such as this, especially when I was bigger and didn’t feel as confident with myself. So this time round I thought, screw it, I’m going to wear a dress I love, and something entirely different to what I’ve worn before.

For accessories, I’ve decided to keep it simple with a clutch and shoes, but nothing else. I wanted to keep the shoes a neutral colour and style so the overall look doesn’t become too overwhelming. This pair of nude Carvela Kurt Geiger court shoes were perfect, which I snapped up in the sale for £50!

However, when it came to the bag, I wanted to go a bit more jazzy, and keeping in line with the modern twist of the metallic gold detailing of the dress, I thought my gold, perspex Lulu Guinness clutch suited that criteria perfectly.

As for make-up and hair, I haven’t quite decided yet so any recommendations would be GREAT.

I’m going to tan obviously because my pasty legs are not ready to be exposed to the world, and luckily for me, my housemate is an absolute genius when it comes to hair, so I’ll be in good hands in that department.

If you’ve got a ball or prom coming up, I HUGELY recommend ASOS for your dress (see here for their fantastic range). They have so many styles to suit different body types, skin tones and of course looks that people are going for.

And please tweet me pictures if you decide to purchase one to @VickyChandler as I’d love to see how beautiful you look!

UPDATE: This was the final look! From recommendations from my Instagram community, I opted with a curly side do, and red lipstick. I got so many compliments and felt like a princess the whole evening. Thank you so much ASOS for once again winning on the ball dress front! When I do my final university post mid May – you’ll see more about this evening!!

(* This post is marked because ASOS sent me this dress for my upcoming ball as part of a blog collaboration. I only work with brands that I trust, I love and I know my readers will too. I will never blog or recommend a product that I didn’t believe in)
